In this tutorial, you will learn about Backup Tool
View the tutorial video. There are four (4) main buttons available from the backup tool
• Configure directory • Backup now • Restore backup • Consult archive
Following the menu zone, a list of previous backup is displayed in the lower section. These entries are sorted from the most recent to the oldest one.
Configure directory
Before using the backup tool, you need to configure a recipient directory. This directory will contain all occurrences of previous backup of the Neonova database and will allow restoration if this is required at this current state. This directory should be frequently included in the corporate backup schedule.
The next figure illustrates an example where no backup directory is currently configured.
The next figure illustrates an example where the backup directory is located on c:\tmp
The backup directory must be configured before first use and can be changed anytime. Press the Configure directory button .

The window directory tree is deployed in order to choose the preferred directory.
You may browse to any folder of your choice, and your final choice will be accepted after pressing .
This action only needs to be done when configuring the tool or once you are required to proceed to any changes in your storage localization.
Backup now
This will probably be the most often used option of that tool. The backup can now be selected anytime. Since this procedure is executed in a few seconds, you should do it frequently and if possible, at the end of every working shift.
We also suggest that you do a backup before performing database cleaning or purging of old data.
NOTE: When you perform a backup, you become the exclusive user on the system and any other connections by other users will be dropped, which can result in the loss of work in progress data.
When selected, an instruction is sent to make a copy of the current Neonova database. You are then asked if you want to access to the Neonova application.
If you click , you will stay inside the backup tool.
Restore backup
Restore completely backup overwrites the existing content of the current Neonova database. Unless you made an alternate copy of your work, everything will be replaced without any possibility to rollback the transaction.
Make sure you are positioned on the proper backup version that you need to restore.
When is selected,a confirmation window will appear.

Once you click , the status is displayed and you are then asked if you want to access the Neonova application.

Consult archive
First locate the archive version you want to consult. The highlighted entry is on the selected database.

Then press Consult archive button . A new window will ask for a confirmation of the selected archived version.
If you click , you will stay inside the backup tool.
If you click , you will exit the backup tool and Neonova is launched with the Neonova_Archive as default database.
Neonova is loaded with data corresponding to your previous selection. The Archive database cannot be modified from Neonova.
