In this tutorial, you will learn about References Add
View the tutorial video. When adding a new reference, based on published recommendations or from your own studies, you may do an insert from the upper panel or from the central lower panel:

You will have to attribute a reference name and a source.
Type the name you wish to use to identify the set of recommendations you are entering. Try to make the name descriptive so selections will be easier. After you type the name, then go to the next field. Example: RDA/ESADDI/EMR 0.5-1 YR (1989) RDA/ESADDI/EMR means Recommended Dietary Allowances/ Estimated Safe and Adequate Daily Dietary Intakes/Estimated Minimum Requirements for infants 0.5 to 1 year of age. In this field, identify the origin of the recommended values being entered, preferably a journal article or other publication. Enter the source and press Enter or the Accept key to save your content. Example: Recommended Dietary Allowances, ed 10, NAS, 1989.
Nutrient content Edition
The edition window for nutrients may involve three elements of information. The nutrient by itself, the low and the high value.
From the Nutrient panel, to change any value, you may double click the current entry, eg. ENERGY.

The edition window:
All valid and available nutrients are already configured in the ‘Nutrient Value’ tab. A lookup will display those nutrients when clicking on the

Only one occurrence per nutrient is allowed.

The Low and High fields permit but do not require you to list a range of recommended values for each nutrient. For example, entering a Low value of 10 will flag all entries less than 10. Entering a High value of 25 will flag all entries greater than 25.
Continue entering values for each nutrient. The units for each value are shown at the right and cannot be changed in the Reference Database. Make sure the values you enter are in the units shown. Do not be concerned if a recommendation is a single value. Enter it in the Low column and leave the High column blank.
Key Point When a Reference has High and Low values, they are used in some Patient reports and calculators (Patient Intake Report, Patient Review, Patient Analysis, etc.) and are also used in Formula and Nutrient compare.
From those dash boards, a reference must be selected and the display unit parameter needs to be expressed in percent. Back to Neonova Learning Center.
