In this tutorial, you will learn about References Compare
View the tutorial video. The Compare function enables you to compare two or more sets of values when working in the Reference and Formula Databases. Compare is used for checking or illustrating differences in the composition of enteral formulas or parenteral solutions, or differences between sets of reference data.
The reference compare option allows comparison between references based on scenarios determined by the filters provided as parameters.

You may select isolated reference as this
and/or mix with intervals
All selected references will appear in the next panel:
You will then be able to make simulations and comparisons with the following filters: • Display unit • Basis • Filter list • Range • Analysis weight • Unit
If the Configure basis filter is chosen, then analysis weight will not be considered

As data is provided, all results are interactive and the panel reacts to the filter and value entered.
On the bottom right section, four (4) buttons permit the following actions. • Select allows new reference selection • Report allows a report generation of the panel content • Export allows some kind of file export information • Close allows you to leave the reference compare panel
Filter selection
The filter section allows you to choose from Standard, Short, Long, and Low/High analyses. Standard Standard Analysis will display the nutrients selected on the Nutrient Values Screen in Configure to be part of the Standard List. It shows the calculated values for Enteral, IV, and Total intake of these nutrients for this patient on this day. If a Reference is selected, this patient’s intake data will be compared against the low and high values in that set of recommendations in the Reference Database. Short A Short Analysis will display only the nutrients selected on the Nutrient Values Screen in Configure to be part of the Short List. Long A Long Analysis will display all of the nutrients that appear on the Nutrient Values Screen in Configure. Low/High A Low/High Analysis will display only those nutrients that are below the low and above the high values in the Reference selected from the Reference Database. A selection must be entered in the Reference field in order to perform a Low/High Analysis.
Display unit selection
The filter section allows you to choose from the available choices of Standard, Equivalents, Moles, and Percent.
Standard Standard uses the units that were defined in Configure. Equivalents Electrolytes (Na, K, Cl), calcium, and magnesium will be shown as mEq/kg because they have both Atomic Weight and Valence in Configure. Moles Electrolytes, calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus will be shown in mM/kg. Percent If no Reference is selected, Enteral and IV intakes will be shown as % of Total intake, which will always be 100%. If a Reference is selected, Total intake will be shown as % of Low and High (if available) to the right of the Total column.
Basis
The filter section allows you to choose from the available choices of Absolute or configure.
The Basis option is the same Basis that appears on the Review Screen. It is a means of changing nutrient intake units for nutrients that are expressed on a per-kg or per-100-Cal basis (of which there are only a few) in Configure.
References
In this field, select the set of Reference values to use when evaluating the infant’s nutrient intake. Press Insert to see the list of recommendations currently maintained in the Reference Database. A Reference does not need to be selected to perform a nutrient analysis. An analysis can be done with a Reference or without one. You can see Enteral, IV, and Total as amounts or percentages, or you can compare the Totals against recommended values as amounts or percentages.

Analysis Weight Enter a theoretical value, such as 1000 g, or an Analysis Weight or Actual Weight for a particular patient of interest.
Unit You are allowed to change the default Formula unit, generally mL. Click on icon to bring the Unit conversion window selection.

The following table illustrates the relationship for unit calculation and which conversion types are allowed:

Other buttons descriptions:
Report button launches the Analysis report.
Export button allows data exportation to a text file.
Close button closes the analysis mode and returns control to the Main Patient Window.
Select button
The select button allows flexibility in the previous selected references:
